Hiking Memorial Sunday

From May 31, 2010

Well, my first draft of this note became a victim of the big, black hole of the internet nothingness, so here we go for round two.

Memorial Day Sunday we decided to head up to Grandfather Mountain for a hike with our friends the Riners. They had their two little ones, so we had quite the little hiking crew. Here is us getting ready to go.

We got this back pack carrier from Josh and Darcy (Thanks!!) and James did great in it. He thoroughly enjoyed chewing/drooling all over it! haha, but really he stayed in in the whole way up for maybe 2 hours without a peep! I think he loved looking at everything in the woods; he had a good view on his dad's back!

We had a great time hiking, but I was concentrating the entire time on not falling! haha, it was really wet and muddy not to mention the rocks, the little streams we crossed, and the giant boulder we climbed up at the end. I just didn't want to become a victim of muddy shoes on slippery rock- also there is this whole post-pregnancy 'I don't have balance anymore' thing going on, haha.

The view from the top was worth it though.

Great time, beautiful day, awesome friends. Totally refreshing day to enjoy what the Lord has made.
