April was full. Kicking off the month with Sk8ties! Our summer camp fundraiser & skate night is 80s themed and always a blast. We take our boys to this event and they enjoy getting to go to Young Life.
Getting to chaperone field trips is the best. For me, getting to spend a whole school day with just one kid is great one-on-one time in a sense, but getting to see them interact with their friends in their school setting is special. You never know how your kid acts when you're not around, but I've been continually thankful to get to watch them. Hayden & his class went to the outdoor aquarium in St. Augustine, and they all loved it. You can tell from Hayden's expressions!
This year I decided to get the boys all matching outfits for Easter Sunday, and it did not disappoint! I absolutely loved how excited Calvin and David were when their new clothes came. They wanted to dress up and look like Daddy, haha! Check out David's 'serious' face! He was trying to look grown up. I don't know about 'grown up', but they looked totally adorable.
Young Life Tacky Prom! Matt and I went with a 'jorts' themed look. I wore my 9th grade prom dress, but went with the flip flops & baseball hat to really set it off. I think I love the picture of Matt & his senior guys from OP the most- those fellas have a special place in my heart!
We went for a exportation of a local spot, Fort Desoto. It was great because it has the old fort to explore, all kind of local wildlife, and the park includes some really nice beaches. We Saw a dolphin who cut us off from the shore for a minute, so I guess you could call that swimming with the dolphin? The boys found so many sea creatures in the sand bar that they made an aquarium on the beach with all the buckets they could find.
He is Risen! He is risen indeed!
Our buddy Calvin celebrated his 6th birthday with a Nerf party! Momma tried to make him a number 6 shirt with Nerf bullets on it, I got in a creative streak in 2019, haha.
I love getting to eat lunch with my boys on their birthday. Here is Calvin & I having some CFA chicken minis on a gorgeous day. I love the way Calvin is posing in these pictures!
I suppose we do look a little bit alike. haha!
2019 was the year of new bikes for all the boys. Calvin wanted a green bike- all our choices in bikes have been very color driven. So we searched all over for a really great green bike. I caught Calvin's face when his Daddy brought it home!
Always Dairy Queen ice cream cakes on birthdays at our house! Happy Birthday Calvin!!
Matt&I combined our YL Campaigner groups for a flashlight Easter egg hunt! Winner pick up the most (empty) eggs, but wins a Starbucks gift card. We had plenty of Easter Candy to share, and it honestly was an absolute blast.
Our brand new 6 year old lost his first tooth!!
Aunt Michelle & Brendan gave the boys a whole tub full of Nerf guns at Christmas, so Calvin decided to have Nerf birthday party complete with a huge Nerf gun battle for all his friends! All momma had to buy was a bunch of bullets, and we were all set! Thanks Aunt Michelle & Brendan!!
Mimi made Calvin two cakes, and yes, that Nerf gun is ACTUALLY A CAKE. The bullets are also edible. I honestly thought it was a gun!!
Mimi decided to make a second cake & created a cake stand out of Nerf guns! She's a cake boss for sure!
Nana Lyon came to Calvin's party!?! She sure did, and I was glad I snapped a picture of her with each of the boys. She looked so lovely!
Two of my original OP girls!! Love you two to pieces.
The boys picked out this birthday cookie for Roo's 13th birthday! He was looking really good & he loved the cookie.
Lord thank you for these precious memories. What a lovely picture of our life, the celebration of birthdays, Easter, and all the YL moments that make the end of the school year so special. It was one of my favorite years in Young Life, and I'm grateful you gave us this year Lord. Thank you for these children & these teenagers. Thank you for our family & all our memories. Amen.
